What shoes to wear with a blazer?
The blazer is perfect for bridging that time when spring slides towards summer and you’ve already put away your winter coats. Easy to slip on over a shirt, a white tee or a fine knit, a blazer will complete your outfit, and, quick as a flash, give you a very chic allure. You just need to know what shoes to wear for that flawless look.
Did you know that the word ‘blazer’ comes from the word ‘blaze’, to burn brightly? So reignite its fiery origins! Don’t think twice about wearing a sequinned blazer, in pure Balmain style, or even a Ralph Lauren-inspired blazer with a stand collar and golden trim.
You could also choose a more classic women’s blazer: black or navy blue is always a chic, safe option. The latest trend is a slightly oversized blazer in a checked print, which is very in vogue with it-girls who love pairing it up with cycling shorts and a belt bag.
See the blazer’s two styles at biendansseschaussures.fr:
- One is slimly tailored, accentuating the waist, and is worn fitted. It’s a favorite of Emmanuelle Alt, Vogue Paris Editor in Chief, who combines it with a loose t-shirt, slim black jeans or vintage belted boyfriend jeans. It goes well with feminine shoes: classic black Vanessa Wu pumps, kitten heels, sky-high sandals or even flat ones with ankle ties.
- The other is straight, making you look taller and lengthening your silhouette. It's the quintessential suit jacket we love to dress down with Dad shoes or white Vanessa Wu trainers, and can be worn with a belt tied over the jacket to bring out its style and femininity. A straight-cut blazer can also be worn with sparkly brogues, slip-ons, or even with a pair of low boots.
Burn the blazer? Never! As well as all its different forms (floral, checked, sequined, tuxedo style), there’s one to suit every body shape. If you’re petite, choose a fitted, short style to avoid a rectangular effect which could shrink your silhouette. If you’re tall, anything goes! Apple-shaped? Choose a long, straight jacket which conceals the hips and lengthens the body.
But enough of this chit-chat! You’ve already guessed it: the blazer is our little mid-season gem for a mix & match look that rocks. You’ll be on fire and red-hot: a trail blazer!
